Wanajporn Meeprom, also known as Aom or Wana, is an illustrator based in Thailand who works with visual narrative through illustrations and creative writing. Her passion lies in theatrical arts and their wondrous set designs, which she strives to pursue. While the theatrical arts are unfamiliar to her previous proficiencies and studies, she welcomes feedback and is open to developing new skills. Theatre: Behind the Curtains (2024)

Illustration, Paper Craft, and Scenography

Research indicates that the Thai theatre industry is experiencing present changes and challenges. The industry, whether it is a big or small production, undergoes these shifts subtly yet regularly. For the people in the world of theatrical arts, the changes have become a part of their daily routine.Depicting the wondrous yet challenging journey of the theatremakers through narrative sequences, the idea of a carousel book comes into play. In addition to being a traditional medium, the carousel book's structure resembles theater sets. The book seeks to illustrate the aspects of each journey through symbolism and scenography, guiding readers to discover the journey as the story unfolds. By doing so, the book, in a way, offers the readers an immersive experience.

ONLINE FORMAT

In this version of Theatre: Behind the Curtains, the project redesigns one of the scenes in Ban Lang Mek, a renowned Thai musical, into an Art Nouveau-inspired set design. The book also includes a sonnet that reflects how I felt while reading articles and interviews regarding the Thai theatre industry.

Concept Design for Rosalyn Theareth of Rositien

Rositien was a fictional kingdom based in a world named Uthearium. The said place was called an ever-lasting winter, with snow-covered mountains and vast tundra fields.Its current ruler, Rosalyn Theareth of House Theareth, was brought to this world during its calamitous time; wars and rebellion broke through. Rosalyn became the third empress, albeit bloodshed followed her obscure past.
